Bilbao (Spain) – Marcela Jabbaz, Capitolina Diaz and Anna Giulia Ingellis took part in the XII IberoAmerican Congress of Science, Technology and Gender in Bilbao from the 18th to the 20th of July 2018 where they led the workshop “Anti-stereotypes of gender games: Towards a less biased vision of the professional future”. The workshop was a great opportunity for further presenting the results coming from the sociological research.

4th Transnational Meeting coming up in Ljubljana

LJUBLJANA (SLOVENIA). 9 – 10 July 2018. – Double appointment for Free to Choose on the 9th and 10th of July in Ljubljana, the Slovenian Capital, at Trubarjeva hiša literature Stritarjeva 7, where the 4th transnational project meeting (9th July) and a special public dissemination event (10th July) will see the participation of various institutional representatives including the Slovenian Institute of Employment, the Institute for Study of Gender Equality and KROJ Youth Network for Career Development. Led by Itaca Social Cooperative, Free to Choose aims at overcoming gender stereotypes in youngsters 16-29 years old to make them free to choose their education and professional path.

Barcelona (Spain) – Anna Giulia Ingellis, Marcela Jabbaz, and Capitolina Diaz from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Valencia (UNIVAL) presented the first results of one of the research carried out in the framework of the EU project FreeToChoose (FtC) – as part of the activities foreseen by WS1 Operational Map – during the IV meeting of the committee of Sociology of Labour of the Spanish  Federation of Sociology at the University of Barcelona on the 21st  and 22nd  of June 2018.

FreeToChoose and game experimentation at PLAY Modena

MODENA. 6 – 8 April 2018. – The X Edition of PLAY Modena, the biggest fair on Italian games, took place in Modena Fiere from the 6th to the 8th of April. Organized in collaboration with Club TreEmme, La Tana dei Goblin and Gilda del Grifone, with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena and University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), PLAY Modena gave life to the largest playroom ever made in Italy by occupying a space that exceeded 22 thousand square meters (the equivalent of twenty tennis courts!). An extension that was justified by the incredible number of board games, miniatures, live games, video games, traditional games, street games, costumes and cosplayers.

Free to Choose results presented at the Scientific Meeting on Sociology of Gender!

VALENCIA. 22-23 MARCH 2018. More than 180 experts took part in the scientific meeting on Sociology of Gender by University of Valencia on the 22th and 23th of March 2018. The participants came from Spain, Mexico, Brazil and Uruguay. According to the organizers, in recent decades gender theories significantly contributed to the development of new theoretical models, ideas, paradigms and other epistemological visions in modern sociology.

Free to Choose Transnational Meeting in Porto

PORTO. 8-9 MARCH 2018. The third transnational meeting of the project Free to Choose took place in Porto on March 8th and 9th. It has been particularly important because it happened at the mid term of the project life cycle, being the chance to analyse the work done so far and agreeing on the delivery of the first two milestones. Besides, as a team committed to gender equality and women’s rights, we took the occasion to shoot a brief video to honour women’s day.
